Dearest Family & Friends,
Finally, I am writing an update of what’s been happening on my side. Inspired by the Richter Report, I hope that I would be able to regularly share with you some snapshots of events in my life and things that went by. Don’t let my message topic mislead you. I expect that my life ahead deserve more than just a quarterly update. Hoping to have more stories to tell.
Hmm… where to start. January was a slow month. Business was just hoping along lazily after the long New Year holiday. The highlight of the month was that two of my high school friends came during the last weekend of January for their so-called honeymoon. They stayed at the guesthouse and so they met Ate Amie and family as well. It is always wonderful to meet old, high school friends and talk about interesting (and shocking) news about our batchmates and professors, and remember unforgettable high school memories.
In February, things started to become super busy at work. I was quite stressed for a while facing with a career decision I may say. My boss shared to me a planned change in the organization structure, wherein I am due for a promotion to head a newly formed Operations Development department. It wasn’t really my area of interest. I had 2 choices – a) accept the promotion/transfer into an area I do not enjoy and b) stay in the current position and area of work where I enjoy but it will be in another company. So far as promotion is concerned, it sounded silly not to take it. However, I have always valued greatly the area of work that I enjoy over salary/position. After a series of discussion with my boss and further understanding of the new role, I decided to give it a try. I am still keeping my options open though. Wish me that things will be okay.
There was the Mariah Carey concert in Bangkok last Feb 17. It was great. Though I am not a big Mariah fan, she has been one of the divas I want to hear live. Another diva I want to hear live is Celine Dion. The two have such powerful voices.
March 5 was a Friday and a national holiday. They call it Maka Bucha Day, a Buddhist holiday. Don’t ask me what it is exactly. No idea! Anyway, the last (long) weekend was spent with Mommy in Kanchanaburi (western province of Thailand). She has a rest house there on a mountain, which is a very good place for chillin’ out. Anyone coming to Thailand is very much welcomed to stay there.
Yesterday, I went to Japanese embassy to apply for visa. Mommy and I will visit Aylwin and family in Nagoya on April 3 and be back on April 18. Mommy will stay longer, probably until June. I am very much excited with this coming 2-week holiday as I can get to enjoy more quality time with Little Sofia and Reko. I miss them so much. Hoping there will be no complications with the visa application ‘cause I am tired of going back and forth to the embassy (like last year).
Well, enough for now. ‘Till next time.
Take care everyone,
Peter
